The Bluejay (17oz Selvedge Denim)
The newly updated Bluejay from Master Supply Co. blends Western heritage with a refined, vintage-inspired silhouette. Tailored for those who value structure, longevity, and authentic detailing, this is a jacket designed to evolve with character.
Why We Upgraded
The original Bluejay was built in 13 oz denim—a solid entry-weight fabric that wore in beautifully. But over time, we wanted to push further. This new edition is cut from 17 oz raw sanforized selvedge denim—a heavier, left-hand twill fabric woven on vintage shuttle looms from the 1950s and finished with a traditional red-line ID. The upgrade adds depth, structure, and long-term fade potential without compromising comfort or wearability. It still softens with time—but now develops sharper creases, richer highs and lows, and a more defined patina. The price has been modestly adjusted to reflect the elevated fabric. In short: this is the Bluejay, levelled up.
Premium Construction
This 17 oz selvedge denim is raw and unwashed, with deep indigo saturation and a smoother hand feel thanks to its left-hand twill weave. Woven slowly on mid-century shuttle looms, each yard of fabric carries unique character and subtle irregularities that modern high-speed looms can’t replicate. Sanforization minimizes shrinkage while preserving the integrity of the break-in process. The red-line selvedge ID is a nod to denim’s heritage—and a marker of the slower, deliberate craft behind each jacket.
Built for Longevity
Triple-stitched main seams and chain-stitched hems reinforce the jacket’s structure, while our custom solid zinc hardware offers tactile reliability and long-term durability. A signature red twill collar insert—a refined evolution from our earlier paisley lining—adds subtle contrast without distracting from the clean profile.
Break-In & Care
The Bluejay is made to wear in, not wear out. With consistent use, it will develop high-contrast creases, patina, and uniquely personal fades. Spot-clean when necessary; delay washing to allow the denim’s character to deepen. If soaked, expect minimal shrinkage (~3%). As with all richly dyed raw denim, color transfer is normal in early wear—avoid pairing with light fabrics.
Custom sizing is not available
Each jacket is designed in Toronto and built in our own dedicated workshop in Pakistan. We oversee every step — from pattern drafting to leather selection to final inspection. Every jacket is individually photographed, measured, and quality-checked before leaving the shop. We produce in small batches using raw selvedge denim and custom hardware.
Please note that we do suggest that someone else assists you with taking body measurements. If you have any questions, please contact us at info@mastersupply.co
