The Sunborn is our interpretation of the classic Type II trucker, built from natural vegetable-tanned cowhide and finished with subtle workwear details throughout.
Cut from 1.3–1.5 mm full-grain cowhide, the leather begins as a light natural tone and will gradually darken, soften, and develop depth through wear. Because the hide is left largely untouched during the tanning process, each jacket evolves differently over time, developing a patina unique to the person wearing it.
The pattern follows the traditional Type II configuration, with the characteristic pleated front and buckle-back adjustment. For everyday practicality, handwarmer pockets are integrated discreetly into the side seams and positioned slightly forward for easier access, preserving the clean lines of the jacket while adding functional usability.
Subtle workwear details carry through the upper construction. A sage green cotton insert lines the inside of the collar for comfort against the neck, while corduroy reinforcement beneath the collar and inside the cuffs adds durability in high-wear areas.
Finished with our custom MSC solid zinc hardware and built with the same construction standards used throughout our leather program, the Sunborn is designed to break in gradually and develop character over years of wear.
As the natural vegetable-tanned leather oxidizes and absorbs sunlight, oils, and daily use, the jacket will deepen in tone and develop rich variation, ensuring no two jackets age the same.
Because the leather is vegetable-tanned and minimally finished, natural markings, tonal variation, and gradual darkening are part of the character of the material.
Leather Note:
This jacket is made from full-grain, undyed vegetable-tanned cowhide. Due to the unfinished nature of the leather, tonal variation, visible grain, and small surface marks are to be expected. These are inherent to the material and are not considered defects.
If exposed to significant moisture, there is a risk of oxidization from metal hardware transferring to the leather, particularly around rivets and snaps with an antique finish. If the jacket becomes wet, lay it flat to dry in a cool, ventilated space. Do not hang or apply heat while damp
Each jacket is designed in Toronto and built in our own dedicated workshop in Pakistan. We oversee every step from pattern drafting to leather selection to final inspection. Every jacket is individually photographed, measured, and quality-checked before leaving the shop. We produce in small batches using full-grain leathers, custom hardware, and offer complimentary custom sizing on all builds.
